Repair terms
18.10.2006

1. By signing when handing in a device for repair, the customer confirms that:

  • the contact details and the details of the device and its accessories have been recorded accurately;
  • they agree to these terms.

2. Diagnostics

2.1. Diagnostics costs €20.00. The customer is told the price of diagnostics before the device is accepted.

2.2. Diagnostics includes: an external inspection of the device and a check that it works; opening (disassembling) the device if necessary; checking for traces of moisture and oxidation; checking the motherboard and components (short circuit, chips, power, charging); finding the cause of the fault; a proposal of repair options with prices (including repair through the manufacturer or replacement of the device) and a warning about possible risks; a written defect report, which the customer receives in person or by e-mail. Storage of the device during diagnostics is free of charge.

2.3. The diagnostics fee pays for the work of finding the cause of the fault, not for the result of a repair. It is charged even if no fault is found, if repair is technically impossible or not economically sensible, or if the customer declines the repair.

2.4. If the customer agrees to the repair, the diagnostics fee is not charged. If the customer has already paid for diagnostics and later chooses the repair, the amount paid is credited towards the repair price.

2.5. The diagnostics fee is not charged if the fault is a warranty case under the iServiss warranty for a previous repair or a product sold by iServiss.

3. The customer provides or removes the access code if it is needed to check the device. The code is used only for the repair and is not passed to third parties. If the code is not provided, functions that cannot be checked are considered unchecked, and iServiss is not responsible for them.

4. The customer makes a data backup themselves before handing in the device. iServiss is not responsible for data loss that occurs without iServiss’s fault, including when no backup was made.

If the customer needs a backup made, iServiss can make one on request. This is a paid service, priced from €25.00.

5. The customer is informed and agrees that during thermal processing or because of hidden defects the device may partly or completely stop working. iServiss is not responsible for this if the work was done with professional care.

iServiss considers hidden defects to be defects that could not be detected when the device was accepted and opened, namely:

  • microcracks or scratches in glass surfaces that may lead to visible cracks;
  • weakened structural elements;
  • bending of motherboards and microcracks in their layers and components;
  • the quality of repairs previously done elsewhere and deviations from the original construction, because of which components may be damaged when the device is opened.

6. Use of parts supplied by the customer. If the customer supplies parts for the repair, iServiss installs them with due care but takes no responsibility for the quality or functionality of those parts. No warranty is given on the customer’s parts. If the result is not achieved because of the customer’s part, the customer pays for the work done.

7. iServiss takes responsibility for every device entrusted to it and gives a limited 6-month warranty on its work. The limited warranty applies only to the repair work and installed parts recorded in the repair report. The limited warranty does not apply if:

  • the device has come into contact with moisture;
  • the device has been exposed to a heavily polluted or dusty environment, as a result of which a part installed by iServiss was damaged because the device is not airtight;
  • it is found that the device was opened after the repair by iServiss;
  • it is found that parts installed by iServiss were damaged by excessive mechanical stress;
  • the defect has recurred because of improper use, for example non-original accessories or accessories that do not meet the MFI certification (for iDevices) were used.

A warranty claim requires the repair report. A non-conformity must be reported within 2 months of its discovery. This warranty does not affect the consumer’s statutory rights.

8. The device must be collected within 20 days of the notification (SMS and/or e-mail). From day 21, storage costs €1.00 per day, up to a maximum of €90.00 in total. iServiss has the right to withhold the device until the repair and storage are paid for. If the device has not been collected within 90 days, iServiss sends a written warning; if the device is still not collected within 30 days after that, it is considered abandoned by the customer, and iServiss sends it for disposal, erasing the data.

9. When receiving the device, the customer must check the quality of the repair by checking:

  • that the accessories handed back with the device match those listed in the repair report;
  • that all reported defects have been fixed;
  • that the repair has not caused other defects, including visible ones.

10. When receiving the device, the customer confirms by signing that they have done the check described in clause 9 and that the device has been received with the accessories listed in the report, without visible damage and with the reported defect fixed, apart from any notes written in the report.

11. After certain repairs (for example, replacing the glass, display or housing), the device may lose its factory water resistance. The customer is informed of this and, by handing in the device for repair, accepts the risk of using the device in a wet environment. Moisture damage after such repairs is not a warranty case.

12. Repair offer. After diagnostics, iServiss tells the customer the repair offer in person, by phone, SMS or e-mail: the fault found, the proposed repair, the price (or the way it is calculated and the maximum price), the repair time, the type of parts and any additional services with prices. If several repair options are possible (for example, an original or compatible part, repairing or replacing a part), iServiss names each available option with its price, time and warranty period, if that differs. iServiss starts the repair only after the customer has agreed to a specific option in person, by phone, SMS or e-mail; agreement by phone is valid. Phone calls with iServiss are recorded; the recording confirms the agreed repair and price. After agreement by phone, iServiss sends the customer a summary of the agreed repair by SMS or e-mail. If the customer does not want the call to be recorded, iServiss agrees the offer with the customer by SMS, e-mail or in person. How recordings are processed is described in the Privacy policy. At the customer’s request, iServiss can provide the offer free of charge in the form of the European Repair Information Form (Annex I to Directive (EU) 2024/1799); in that case, the conditions stated in the form are valid for 30 calendar days from the date it is issued, unless the form states a longer period.

13. Parts. For repairs, iServiss uses original parts, manufacturer service parts, compatible parts or used parts. The type and price of the part are agreed with the customer before the repair and recorded in the report. If, after the repair, the manufacturer’s software shows a notification about an unknown or non-original part but the part works, this is not a repair defect.
